Chalk pastel sketch from The Ring of Brodgar, Orkney. I kept dropping my pastels in the heather, I was using heather coloured pastels so I was searching for awhile!
The Watch Stone and The Ring of Brodgar. I’m loving green wax highlights right now 🙂
Cut out paper and light. A quiet stone circle.
Quick sketch of standing stones and a fence. I love fences that just stop in the middle of nowhere. They’re so mysterious. I get the feeling theres something I can’t see at the end of them…
The Ring of Brodgar. Sketching with a scalpel is fun. People think “oh look there’s someone drawing the standing stones! Wait… is that a knife?!” Gently confusing people is a lovely thing.
I’m not a very tranquil sketcher. It would be nice to pretend I drew this drawing sitting in the lotus position, at sunrise while in awe at the glory of nature. But it was more like squatting in a swamp, in the rain while “pfft-pfft” blowing my hair out of my face. Hopefully its got a tranquil feeling anyway, no matter how much mud got on me while drawing!
Spent today walking around the Ring of Brodgar stone circle. I love the textures of the heather there. I was taking loads of photos of it and the American tourists posing with the stones must have thought I was mad, squatting in the mud and photographing twigs!
