I’ve been getting a lot of followers asking how I make my wax paintings; so this video is for you! 50 minutes of wax painting in 5 min.
Iron Man encaustic painting. I kept giggling because I was using the painting iron… because, y’know, IRON Man! Oh, theres no redeeming my sense of humor :p Also stay tuned today for a special video post…
A friend was telling me about her late father; as a young man he got a tattoo in France using illegal blue ink. The ink was prone to swelling in sunlight and distorting the image. But it ment that when my friend was a little girl she loved to see her fathers seahorse tattoo puffing up its blue tummy in summer. Sometimes a mistake we make turns out to be a wonderful thing further along the line.
I’m taking a short break from blogging while my university deadlines are looming. Normal service should resume in June, I’ll see you then 🙂
When I was little I used to listen to War of the Worlds while going to sleep. There was nothing scarier than when Earth succumbed to the Red Weed… well maybe the cry of the aliens “Oooooooo-lon!”
I’m reading a lot of post-apocalyptic scifi right now so I wanted to try a matching wax painting. The birds were a mistake, the birds should be radioactively barbecued by now. Maybe they are bird-shaped government drones looking for survivors…
With anyone else but me 🙂 I love that Glenn Miller song. I loved making this image too, using the painting iron as a hot plate with the paper on top and “drawing” the melting wax onto the heated paper. Smoooooooooth.
I’m having so much fun using wax! I like to think this is a weird kind of moss that lives in books and eats ideas. This is beeswax, coloured wax and gold. On a side note … “Take THAT Theory of Landscape Painting book!” :p
This wax painting was a present for my Nanas church. I feel like using rubber stamps is cheating, but I liked the results anyhow.
Get it? Rush? Cos theres bullrushes? Oh fine, my word play is terrible. I’ll just go sit in the corner and try to find inner peace instead then shall I? :p
The Watch Stone and The Ring of Brodgar. I’m loving green wax highlights right now 🙂
